IS 170:2020 covers Acetone. This standard specifies the requirements, sampling methods, and testing procedures for acetone intended for industrial use. Acetone is a widely used commercial solvent and raw material in the chemical, explosives, and lacquer industries. It is frequently used as a solvent for cellulose acetate, cellulose ether, nitrocellulose, celluloid, chlorinated rubber, various resins, fats, and oils, and as acetylene absorbent. It is increasingly being used in the synthesis of a variety of chemicals, including diacetone alcohol, methyl isobutyl ketone, phorone, is phorone, methyl methacrylate, and various resins, pharmaceuticals, and perfumes.
